Automotive Regions

The overall objective of the project is to raise awareness about the challenges (overcapacity, relocation of activities and increasing competition from new locations in non-EU markets) faced by automotive industry in partner regions and to devise proactive schemes to deal with them. The project will seek to capitalise on know-how and good practices available in the partner regions on private and public sector policies as well as initiatives for attracting, retaining, extending, diversifying and promoting the automotive industry and regional supply chains thereof.The methodology is divided into 4 sets of activities: a benchmarking exercise, analysis of the regional automotive supply chains, an analysis of product innovations, process innovations, labour market and training issues, the role of EC and national governments, the diversification of regional activities, the establishment of national and European discussion fora in order to influence automotive related initiatives.
