2. Brussels Background: New initiatives for Public Transport from Europe - Threat or Opportunity for Stuttgart Region?

The European Commission fosters competition in public transport. In July 2005, the Commission tabled the draft of a new directive for the commissioning for transport services. It is under debate, whether this imposes chances or threats for public transport in the Stuttgart Region.

Thus, Verband Region Stuttgart invited to a panel debate with the responsible head of department of the European Commission, directors of transport enterprises and directors of integrated transport systems.

The series "Brussels Background" aims at bringing Europe to Stuttgart Region. To this end, the Stuttgart Region European Office invites key decision makers from various European institutions to discussion events in Stuttgart Region.
