PolyMETREXplus

co-funded under INTERREG III C

The 1999 European Spatial Development Perspective outlined fundamental considerations on the spatial structure of Europe for competitive development in the face of the major economic powerhouses of North America and Asia. The EU summits in Gothenburg and Lisbon then formulated the aims of relating knowledge-based, sustainable growth for the EU. The concept of the PolyMETREXplus project is to make a contribution from the viewpoint of the metropolitan regions of Europe relating to the functions and relations of those regions as the backbone of a polycentric, competitive Europe. It provides the 19 metropolitan regions involved with the opportunity to influence the relevant policies of the EU and the member states.
